Having hell and all trouble with roccobella !
She starts and runs fine for a couple of mins then starts revving up to 2K plus. Tried fettling the carb but if I get her running smooth when she is warm she wont start. Someone has mentioned a "waxstat"
Can anyone shed some light here  ????

just saw this on the web........

Waxstat, also known as 'Expansion Element':
Helps control the idle untill the autochoke switches off completely. Is full of wax which is heated by coolant. As the wax expands a pin exends from the unit pressing a lever which brings the idle down. Check by throwing into a bowl of hot water, the pin should extend. This has been known to fix dodgy units as it 'resets' the wax apparently!

this was the web page ....

gt2-01's description of the waxstat is correct, but the waxstat can fail in one of 2 ways, either it doesn't open the throttle at all or it leaves it open a little all the time, to cause an increase when warm would mean that it had reversed its operation, as it works on temperature expansion this is very unlikely.

As to other possibilities, I would suggest that first you check all the vacum hoses, if there is a leak there that shows up more when the engine is hot, that would increase speed by operating the throttle plate actuator, the large disc like part on the drivers side of the carb. This normanlly opens the throttle until enough vacum is produced to pull it back in, if you then lost the vacum it would open again. To check the hoses you will have to take them off and examine them carefully, they will develop cracks in the rubber not easily visible on the car.

Hope this helps, will try to think of other suggestions if not.
